Christmas Recycling & Refuse collections for Reigate & Banstead

As Christmas approaches Reigate & Banstead Borough Council are informing people of changes to their recycling and refuse collection service.

Residents who usually have collections on Monday 21st December have a revised collection two days beforehand on the 19th.

Tuesday 22nd – Friday 25th will be collected one day earlier.

Normal collections apply between 28th and 31st December; and those expected for collection on Friday 1st January will occur on the 2nd.

Normal service resumes on 4th January.

Garden waste collections are being suspended for two weeks over the festive period.

Residents can find details of these collection day changes and more information on the recycling and refuse service on the council’s website www.reigate-banstead.gov.uk/recyclemore.

During 2016, with the exception of Christmas and the New Year, the council will be collecting as usual over bank holidays.

Surrey Courier Fraud Targeted in New Campaign

A campaign has been launched to help protect people targeted by courier fraud.

“Think twice and don’t give out your personal details to someone you don’t know” is the message aimed at vulnerable and elderly people.

The campaign hopes to raise awareness of courier fraud and advise of preventative measures which can be put into place.

During one incident in Dorking, the fraudster stayed on the end of the telephone line after instructing his victim, a man in his 80s, to phone his bank.

The fraudster then pretended to be a bank clerk, obtained the man’s pin number, and directed him to put his cards in an envelope ready for collection by a courier.

The campaign being run by Surrey Police continues until December 20th.
