St Catherine’s Hospice and St Albans Church are two of a number of voluntary and community organisations which have been awarded grants from West Crawley County Local Committee.
The Community Initiative Funding and Prevention and Wellbeing Grants total over £20,000 for the year ahead.
The money will be used for projects which promote social contact, exercise, and educational activities.
Elections for the first ever council of governors for Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust have been held.
19 people were elected from a strong field of 84 candidates. They are joined by a further 9 invited partner governors.
The council of governors plays an important role, linking the Trust to the communities it serves across east Surrey and West Sussex.

Two women have been arrested on suspicion of affray following reports of a fight in Crawley.
Police were called to Broadfield Barton parade shortly before 11 o’clock Friday evening. They arrived to find a 25 year-old and 34 year-old woman suffering with facial injuries. One of the women required hospital treatment.
Both have been released on bail whilst officers continue their investigation.
A primary school in Surrey has received a prestigious award.
The Green Flag has been presented to pupils and staff at Godstone Village School.
The school has previously won Bronze and Silver awards for their eco efforts.
Mike Goodman, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Planning, presented the Green Flag for their efforts in making the school more environmentally friendly.
A plea is being made for witnesses to an assault in Hooley.
The attack happened around 8 o’clock the evening of 21st June in stationary traffic on the A23 where the road joins the M23. The victim in his 30s was dragged out of his black Volkswagen Passat and assaulted by two other drivers.
He suffered injuries to his face, back and abdomen. His vehicle was also damaged.
Police believe there are a number of people who witnessed the incident but have not yet come forward.
