Woman escapes rape attempt in Crawley

A woman had a lucky escape in Crawley at the weekend.

The victim in her 20s managed to fight off a man who attempted to rape her.

She had met the man outside Moka nightclub the early hours of Sunday morning and the pair walked together along Station Way.

He then pushed her into the bin area of the Regus offices car park.

The attacker has been described as having olive skin, possibly European in his late 20s or early 30s, with short dark spikey hair and a short beard.

Acid attack in Crawley

Acid has been thrown over a man in Crawley.

The assault happened during the early hours of Sunday morning outside Cineworld in the Crawley Leisure Complex.

The two suspects are described as white men in their late 20s or early 30s.  One had short dark hair and a beard.  They were in a dark coloured Peugeot.

The victim from Redhill was taken to East Surrey Hospital for initial treatment but was then transferred to Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead for specialist care.

The 27 year-old has suffered potentially life-changing injuries.

Field Fire tackled in East Grinstead

Emergency crews were called to deal with a field fire in East Grinstead.

Equipment from East Grinstead, Crawley, and Haywards Heath was used to put out the blaze and make the area in Hazelden Place safe.

The incident occurred Saturday afternoon shortly before 12.30pm.

Surrey County Council claims ‘millions’ saved in pothole scheme

More than £7 million pounds has been saved during the first two years of a Surrey County Council scheme to make roads pothole-proof.

Operation Horizon aims to replace more than 300 miles of roads with surfaces which come with a 10-year repair guarantee.

The County Council claims smarter contracts and recycling has helped to save just over £3 million in the second year of the five year project.  Over £4 million was saved in the first year.

Evacuation of a Horsham pub caused by pepper spray

A pepper spray is reported to be the cause of a pub evacuation in Horsham at the weekend.

Emergency crews were called to Sussex Barn in North Heath Lane Saturday evening following reports of a burning smell.

For safety precautions the building was evacuated whilst a thorough search was carried out.

The pub was reopened after the search revealed no threat however it is believed a pepper spray had been used in a toilet.
