Burglar floods victim’s house in East Grinstead

Renewed appeals are being made for information after a property was flooded during a burglary in East Grinstead.

The incident occurred the afternoon of 10th March at a house in Campbell Crescent.

Jewellery boxes including gold and diamond rings and gold chains were taken.

The 84 year-old victim returned home to find the kitchen sink had been blocked and the taps turned on.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak with.  It can be viewed on the Sussex Police website.

CCTV Footage released in hunt for arsonist in Horley

It is hoped new CCTV footage could help with an investigation into an arson attack at a community hall in Horley.

Shortly before 1 o’clock Monday morning the 18th May, Strawson Hall in Albert Road was deliberately set on fire.

Footage shows a man carrying what is believed to be a container walking along Albert Road at the time of the blaze.

The CCTV images are available on the Surrey Police website.

Stolen Quad Bikes Recovered in Smallfield

Three quad bikes reported stolen from a workshop in South Godstone at the weekend have been found.

Officers recovered the bikes following a search in the woods off Hathersham Lane in Smallfield.

Valued at around £15,000 the quad bikes were returned to their owner.  Police are still investigating the theft and ask anyone with information to dial 101.

Man jailed for killing a cyclist in Horsham

A man has been jailed after knocking down and killing a cyclist in Horsham.

27 year-old Zisi Lushi was in collision with Michael Dixon in Kerves Lane back in December after losing control of the vehicle.  The 65 year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lushi had borrowed his brother’s car and was carrying fake ID after entering the country illegally.

The 27 year-old was found not guilty of death by dangerous driving but was convicted of causing death by careless driving.  He also pleaded guilty to causing death while driving without a licence and without insurance.

Lushi has been jailed for 14 months and will be deported to his home country of Albania after he has served his sentence.

Quad bikes stolen in South Godstone

Three quad bikes have been stolen from a workshop in South Godstone.

The break-in occurred between 10 o’clock Saturday evening and 9 o’clock Sunday morning.

It is believed a fork lift truck may have been used to remove the bikes from the property on Byers Lane.

The quad bikes are thought to be worth £1500.  One was white, another was red with a Ferrari emblem and the third was green with some damage to the front fenders.
