Surrey police are concerned for the welfare of a missing man from Redhill.

Dennis De Dreyer who sometimes goes by Arya was last seen at around 3pm on Wednesday the 6th August and seen around 15 minutes later on CCTV in Station Road, Redhill.

He had been detained under the Mental Health Act and investigating officer Detective Sergeant Tristan Hardiman has said they do not think he has had his medication since going missing.

He added that there is no indication that he would be a risk to the public but urges people to contact them rather than approach him.

A Horley man has been charged on eight counts of arson and three counts of criminal damage.

He has been remanded in custody for the offences that took place in the Reigate and Horley areas.

The arson charges involve Horley Lawn Tennis Club, Churchfields Bowls Club, Two Surrey Police vehicles at Reigate Town Hall and a car tyre and a chair in a garden at a property.

Two of the counts of criminal damage were at Barclays bank, one in Horley and one in Reigate.

He appeared at Guildford Magistrates Court on Tuesday 12th August.

A Crawley man has been found guilty of the murder of a Portuguese immigrant.

Daniel Palmer was yesterday jailed for life for the murder of Joao Esteves in January.

Mr Esteves was found with head injuries and had only been in the UK for less than a week when he was killed between Stephenson Way and Haslett Avenue East.

Police have said that Palmer filmed his victim after the attack, sending footage to his friends, almost as a trophy.

On the night of the murder Palmer had drunk about eight pints of beer and had been abusive to other people during the evening.

20 motorists have been convicted of driving offences during June after being arrested as part of Operation Dragonfly.

This is the force’s crackdown on drink and drug driving in Sussex.

The latest ban was of a 49-year-old woman who is banned for four years after she was found almost four times over the drink-drive limit.

She had already served a four year ban after being caught drink-driving in 2004.

A total of 38 drivers have been convicted of offences they committed during the operation.

Superintendent Jane Derrick said that mixing drink with any amount of driving is dangerous but getting behind the wheel shows a shocking disregard for the safety of other people.

The number of people who used Gatwick airport in July was 4.1million, up by 6% year on year.

This figure along with that of Heathrow who had 0.5% more passengers than last july, has heated the debate over airport expansion.

Both airports have claimed their records meant that they, rather than their rival should be granted an expansion.

Heathrow boss John Holland-Kaye said that Gatwick can’t deliver daily.

However, Nick Dunn, chief financial officer at Gatwick said a third runway at heathrow would diminish the choice available to British passengers.

The Airports Commission, charged with deciding which option is best, is due to report after 2015.
