Dog walker assaulted on a footpath

A woman was assaulted while she was walking her dog in Crawley on a footpath between Matthews Drive and Bennett Close on Saturday.

Police have now identified a man they wanted to speak to in connection with the incident.

The 30-year-old-man contacted the police himself about his involvement.

Sniffer dog fighting crime

A sniffer dog discovered illegal tobacco worth 2-thousand-pounds in a raid on Monday.

The dog, whose name is Pheobe, helped officers from trading standards find 260 packets of cigarettes and 103 pouches of loose tobacco in a Crawley business.

The seized tobacco had probably been smuggled into the UK to avoid taxes.

Woman appeals for help to find her missing brother on youtube

A woman has turned to youtube to find her brother after he went missing in May.

 

Jean Leveque from Hawth Close in Crawley was last seen on the 8th and Marie, his sister, has made a youtube video in an attempt to find him.

 

In it she said that Leveque is very shy and not the type to approach people for help if he didn’t know them.

 

Jean is black with short dark hair and a pierced right ear. When he was last seen he was wearing a fleece jacket and jeans.

Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

FGM explained at Gatwick

In a move to raise awareness of Female Gentile Mutilation Police held a workshop for people employed at Gatwick Airport.
The workshop took place on Wednesday this week in the hope of highlighting the issue and explaining the signs to identify victims.
People heard about the procedure, which is mostly performed on young girls, predominantly from African, Asian and Middle Eastern communities and also listened to the story of a survivor of FGM.
