Another four motorists have been arrested as part of Operation Dragonfly

Operation Dragonfly is government scheme focused on tackling drink and drug driving in Sussex.

The recent arrests mean a total of 106 people have been charged in the month of June

Gatwick Cyclist Attacked

A 52 year old man has been attacked after walking along the cycle track by the A23 at Gatwick.

The man was walking to the airport to fly home to see his family when the assault took place between 8.15pm and 9.30pm on Saturday 19 July.

He suffered head and shoulder injuries from being struck with an object from behind, facial injuries from being punched and bruising from being kicked on the ground.

A cyclist was seen passing the victim just after the attack, travelling towards Gatwick’s south terminal just before the cycle track passes under the terminal. Police are urging the cyclist to come forward.

Surrey readers have shown how much they love thrillers, following a near 100% rise in ebook loans from libraries.

29,390 ebooks have been borrowed from Council libraries so far this year, compared to 15,267 for the same period in 2013.

This follows a growing trend which has seen online library use overtake visits to branches.

Housing Fraud

A Crawley resident has been prosecuted for trying to fraudulently obtain a council home

Gemma Henley, 24 of Sandpiper Close made a false application to join Crawley council’s housing register in Winter 2013

She pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates Court on 16 July to two counts of making a false statement

She has been ordered to pay £200 in costs and has been removed from the housing register
