West Crawley CLC to discuss street lighting project

Street lighting will be the main topic under discussion at West Crawley County Local Council at its meeting next week on the 14th.

The contractor involved in the replacement streetlighting project for West Sussex will be providing an update to members of the council.

SSE Contracting will provide a briefing about the project and respond to issues raised by committee members during the meeting at Crawley Library which starts at 7.00pm.

This comes following concerns among members of the public.

JJ Whispers Licence in Jeopardy

Request for Crawley’s JJ Whispers nightclub licence to be revoked

Sussex Police has submitted a review application to Crawley Borough Council on JJ Whispers nightclub.

The police are requesting that the licence of the club on the High Street in Crawley be revoked, following incidents of drunkenness, sexual assaults and disorderly behaviour on the premises and in the immediate area.

A hearing will take place at Crawley Borough Council in March

Henry Smith Welcomes Housing List Reforms

Crawley MP, Henry Smith has expressed support for a government bill which ensures people with a long standing connection to their local community will be pushed to the top of the housing waiting list

Mr Smith believes local council homes should go to families with a well established residency or job in the local area.

He commented 1 in 6 of all social housing tenants in the south east are now foreigners.

Leacroft Medical Practice Suffers Damage

Recent strong winds and heavy rain have caused serious damage to the roof of Leacroft Medical practice.

On the evening of Monday December 23 2013 the roof of the practice in Langley Drive was partially torn off by strong winds, with the result that heavy rain entered about half the building. This left extensive water damage over two floors and rendered the building unusable.

Consequently alternative services have been provided at Crawley Hospital

Crawley MP, Henry Smith said even after Leacroft is reopened he supports a service at Crawley, as he feels this would benefit the Langley Green and West Green area.
