National Fire Strikes in Surrey

National Fire Strikes This Weekend to Affect Surrey

National fire strikes will take place this weekend because of a dispute between central Government and the Fire Brigades’ Union over proposed changes to firefighters’ pensions.

The strikes will happen from 6pm to 10pm this evening (Friday 13th Dec) and 6pm to 10pm tomorrow (Sat 14th Dec).

SGI and non-striking firefighters will crew as many engines as they can on the day. However, there will be fewer fire engines than normal in Sussex and Surrey, so it’s important for local residents to take extra care.
