London Gatwick Supports Sussex Families

London Gatwick has recently contributed nearly fourteen thousand pounds to support families in financial hardship through its partnership with the charity FreeShop Crawley.

FreeShop helps to provide essential services to over 600 people every week by offering food, mental health support, professional services and more.

During the recent October half-term, London Gatwick welcomed 13 families who use FreeShop to its Science Technology Engineering and Maths centre, where colleagues led STEM-related activities for children and engaged with parents about the career opportunities available at the airport.

The group meet at the council offices in Oxted every two months, so for anyone who has some spare time and would like to help, you can email the organisation on tandridgeaccessgroup@gmail.com

Crawley Police Use DNA Technology To Deter Burglary

Crawley Police has teamed up with a forensic firm to help in the fight against burglary.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team will distribute DNA marking kits to residents from identified locations across the borough.  Marking property with a DNA identifier proves who the item belongs to and links criminals to the crimes they commit.  Each kit comes in a pot of adhesive solution and can be used to mark up to 50 items.

Posters will be displayed in the areas where the DNA marking kits will be used – to deter potential offenders.
