Horley Assault Men Charged

Three men have been charged following an assault in Horley last year.

The incident occurred at around 2am on Sunday, 19 October when a man in his 20s intervened during an argument between two groups of people. The man received serious injuries and was taken to East Surrey Hospital for treatment.

Yesterday (Wednesday, 11 March), three people were charged with several counts of assault and one count of affray.

Those charged include James Calum Condon who’s 20, Joe Kevin Condon, 23 and Liam John Condon, 25 all of Balcombe Road, Horley.

They’ve been bailed to appear at South East Surrey Magistrates Court on Monday, 13 April.

Free Children’s Sports Coaching

Reigate & Banstead Borough Council’s looking for children interested in trying out a new sport, or wanting to improve at one they already play.

There’s a new free sports coaching programme offered as part of the P&G Surrey Youth Games 2015.

The opportunity also comes with a chance to represent the borough in a countywide sports competition in the summer.

To qualify for the free coaching sessions, children must be aged 7 – 16 and live or go to school in the borough of Reigate and Banstead.  They should also be below county standard in the sport they wish to take part in and be of appropriate gender.

West Sussex issues advice on No Smoking Day

Wednesday 11th March is No Smoking Day.

Organised by the British Heart Foundation, the day aims to promote advice and services available to help people quit the habit.

West Sussex County Council is reminding people of the benefits of not smoking; not just health related but financial.

They estimate the average smoker would save more than £150 a month and almost £2,000 a year.

Over the last three years in West Sussex 12 people have lost their lives in accidental house fires; seven of those were as a result of smoking.

Dedicated Diabetes Care Hub in Earlswood

A new dedicated diabetes centre in Earlswood is opening it’s doors for people to meet the specialist staff and find out about the help available.

Consultants, specialist nurses and support staff moved to The Earlswood Community Centre recently.

On March 18th visitors are welcome to tour the centre and speak with staff about the dedicated hub for diabetes care.

Doors open between 10am and 1.30pm.

Windows smashed in Tandridge

A number of windows have been damaged in Tandridge.

Vehicle and property windows have been smashed in several areas including Godstone, South Nutfield, Bletchingley, Merstham, and Redhill.

Those incidents all occurred Sunday evening.

An investigation is underway and anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey Police on 101.
