Crawley BC Awards 2 Grants

Crawley Borough Council has awarded grants totalling £1,100 to two community groups.

It awarded £600 to The As You Are Centre, a charity which supports families affected by suicide with low cost counselling and psychological support.

The money will pay for a six-week suicide bereavement support pilot scheme in Crawley.

The council’s also given £500 to The Works @ Dormans, a new group based in Gossops Green providing activities for adults with learning disabilities.

The grant will pay for equipment for the group, whose  activities include sport, computers and gaming, and community projects.

Gatwick Co-Ordination Group Consultation

The Gatwick Coordination Group submitted its consultation response to the Airports Commission on Friday (30 January).

The Group, chaired by Reigate MP, Crispin Blunt, is formed of six Gatwick Area MPs who came together in 2014 to represent local concerns over plans for a second runway at Gatwick Airport.

Mr Blunt, speaking on behalf of the Group, said that they believed the appraisal will help the commission find against Gatwick’s proposals when compared with the Heathrow options.

A final decision will be taken later this year

Crawley Assault

A man was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken jaw following an assault in Crawley early last Saturday week morning (24 January) .

The 19 year old had been walking with friends along Friary Way,close to County Mall around 3:20am.

If you saw anything, Sussex Police are keen to hear from you.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 0763 of 18/1. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111

Stargazing event this weekend
