Council calls for Crawley to becoming a living wage town

Getting employees in Crawley a living wage is now one of the Council’s top priorities.

 

Earlier this year the council was accredited as a living wage employer and it’s now focusing on encouraging other employers to pay those who work for them a decent wage as well.
Being a Living Wage employer means paying staff a minimum of £7.65 per hour, £1.15 per hour more than the Government’s minimum wage of £6.50.

22 year old attacked by three women

A woman was attacked and shouted at by three other women last Friday in Three Bridges in Crawley.

 

The 22-year-old – who was smoking as she waited for a taxi with a friend – was hit in the face near the LB1 Bar in Gales Drive.

 

People nearby pulled the attackers off the woman.

Surgeon who worked at hospitals in Horley and Redhill sacked

A consultant surgeon’s been sacked following an investigation into the treatment of cancer patients – including 27 who came to harm.

 

Paul Miller worked at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, and Spire Gatwick Park Hospital in Horley.

 

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has apologised for the care given by the urologist between 2006 and 2013.
Mr Miller, who was suspended last year, says the decision to sack him was unjustified.

Teenager Admits Burglary Spree

A teenager from Crawley has admitted going on a burglary spree across Sussex.

The 17 year-old broke into 12 properties last month.

His fingerprints were found at addresses in Crawley, Worthing, Brighton and Hove.

The teenager pleaded guilty and has been remanded in custody to be sentenced later this month.
