New Cemetry in Crawley

Crawley Borough Council has agreed to build the town’s new cemetery at Little Trees near Tollgate Hill.

The site was agreed at a meeting of the Full Council on Wednesday (17 December).

The 12-acre site, which is on council-owned land near the A264 Crawley South West By-Pass, will provide enough cemetery space for up to 50 years.

Fatal Crash in Handcross

Two men were killed and two other people were hurt when their car hit a tree and flipped onto its roof.

The men, aged 21 and 22, were passengers in the back of a BMW which crashed in High Beeches Lane, Handcross, West Sussex, at about 10pm on Wednesday (17th December)

Sussex Police said both men were taken to hospital but later sadly died.

The 20-year-old male driver is being treated for serious injuries at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

A 16-year-old girl, who was travelling in the front passenger seat, was taken to the same hospital for treatment for minor injuries and later released.

Sussex Police said two of the people in the car were from Lindfield and two from Haywards Heath.

The force has asked for anyone with information about the crash to contact officers.

Ch Insp Phil Nicholas said:
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have been travelling on the road between Turners Hill and Handcross last night around 10 o’clock who may have seen the BMW car.”

Fatal Collision near Horsham

A woman in her 60s has died at the scene of a collision near Horsham.

A white Vauxhall Vivaro van and a white Mini Cooper were involved in a head-on collision on A281 Guildford Road at Bucks Green.

The 67 year-old woman driving the mini was confirmed dead at the scene; her 75-year-old male passenger was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The 17 year-old driver of the van suffered minor injuries.  He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

CCTV footage released of burglary suspects in Colgate

CCTV footage has been released of two men suspected of being involved in a burglary in Colgate.

A home in Forest Road was broken into the afternoon of September 8th and a large amount of property was taken including a laptop, watches, jewellery, mobile phones and perfume.

Two men were seen looking through the windows of the house and police would like to hear from anyone who has information on the suspects.

Bike ablaze in Bewbush

An investigation has been launched after a motorbike was found ablaze in Bewbush.

Fire crews were called to Coxcombe Lane around 2.30 Monday morning where they extinguished the fire.

Police believe the motorbike was set alight deliberately.
