Crawley Urged to Rock the House

Crawley MP Henry Smith is urging local musicians to enter Rock the House 2015, a competition celebrating young British artists with a prize of performing in Parliament.

Among the many prizes on offer include a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform on the House of Commons Terrace, as well as music equipment and masterclasses from professionals.

Mr Smith will nominate his favourite from each of six categories, after which a judging panel will select a shortlist of entrants from the nominations by MPs in each section.

The closing date for entries is 31st December 2014 with a live finals show on 18th March 2015.

Cash Machine Blown Up

A cash machine in Warlingham was blown up by thieves yesterday morning.

The machine was detonated in the early hours in an attempt to steal the cash contents.

However, the ploy failed and no money was taken.

Three men wearing balaclavas were seen fleeing the scene, and it’s possible that a high performance car and van were also involved.

Anyone who can assist detectives with their investigation is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference 45140105339.

Luke Ayling struck a late winner to defeat Crawley Town and keep Bristol City at the top of the League One table on Saturday.

The defender beat Reds goalkeeper Lewis Price from a tight angle with just three minutes of normal time remaining.
Price had kept Crawley in the game earlier with brilliant saves to deny Kieran Agard and Joe Bryan.

In the Ryman league, Redhill’s home match against Ramsgate was called off after a pitch inspection. Merstham managed a 1 all home draw with Faversham Town and East Grinstead had a good 2 – 1 away win at Hythe Town. Three Bridges were thrashed 6 – 2 at home to Worthing but South Park picked up all the points with a 3 – 1 away victory at Whyteleafe.

Violent attack in Crawley

An investigation has been launched following a violent late night attack in Crawley.

Two men are being sought in connection with the incident in the town centre just after midnight Friday morning.

There was an altercation between four men in Troys Kebab House in Crawley High Street and one man suffered a serious injury to his jaw.

Both suspects are described as Asian between 20-30 years old and of medium build, between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 8ins tall.

Fatal collision in Horsham

A cyclist has died in a collision in Horsham.

The air ambulance attended the scene in Kerves Lane shortly before 11 o’clock last Monday morning however the cyclist died at the scene.

The road was closed between Brighton Road and Coldstaple Lane whilst investigations were being carried out.

A motorist has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

In particular, officers would like to speak to two horseriders believed to have passed the scene shortly before the collision occurred.
