Cyclist Death in Horsham

A cyclist was found dead in Horsham at the weekend.

Despite the efforts of the air ambulance, the 53 year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of the public, including an off-duty doctor, attempted to resuscitate the cyclist after finding him collapsed in the road shortly after 10 o’clock Saturday morning.

Anyone who saw what happened and who has not yet spoken to police is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting Operation Mendip.

Collision in Crawley

A woman had to be cut from her car following a collision in Crawley.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service used hydraulic rescue equipment to release the woman.

A man, who was in a second car, was freed from his vehicle by ambulance paramedics.

Both were taken to hospital following the incident on Balcombe Road Saturday afternoon.

Oxted Youth Sentenced for Murder

A 17-year-old boy who pleaded guilty to the murder of a girl at his home in Oxted has been sentenced to a minimum of 25 years in jail.

The boy, who was 16-years-old at the time of the offence, had known Elizabeth Rose Thomas for several months before her murder.

He pleaded guilty to stabbing her last January at Guildford Crown Court on September 9th.

Customer Service Week in Tandridge

Tandridge District Council’s taking part in this year’s Customer Services Week which starts today. This is an opportunity to raise awareness of customer service and the vital role it plays in successful businesses.

Apart from using the week to promote excellent customer service, all members of the Council’s Corporate Management Team are going to become temporary members of Customer Services and will be answering the phones and working on reception during the week. Staff from different service areas across the Council will also be taking part.

The Council would like your feedback on their service. You can pop in to the Council offices in Oxted and fill out a card or do it online on the the Tandridge website.

Weekend Football Update

Crawley Town came back from 2 goals down to earn an excellent League One point away at Coventry on Saturday afternoon. Gwion Edwards and Izale McLeod scoring in the first half.

In the Ryman League, Merstham drew 2 all at home with Worthing, and it was a similar score in South Park’s home encounter with Hythe Town.

East Grinstead Town lost 3-2 at Ramsgate while it was a win by the same margin for Three Bridges against Hastings.
Finally Redhill managed to get a point with a 1 all away draw at Whyteleafe.
