Suspected arson in Horsham

An appeal for information has been launched following a fire in Horsham.

Fire crews were called to Crawley Road shortly after 6 o’clock the evening of 23rd November.  A blaze had broken out in a flat above Horsham Car Centre.

It is believed the fire was started deliberately in a bin in the hallway.

No-one was injured.

 

Jewellery missing following a burglary in Smallfield

Enquiries continue into the whereabouts of jewellery stolen from a property in Smallfield.

The items, which are of huge sentimental value to the rightful owners, were taken during a burglary on 6th November.

Anyone who has seen the jewellery or been offered it for sale is asked to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference 45140093938. Information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Crawley praised for clean streets

Crawley has picked up another prestigious award.

The town earned a silver award for its clean streets.

Judges from the 2014 Clean Britain Awards made unannounced visits to random locations across Crawley in the Summer and assessed the streets against four key criteria:

  • Litter
  • Aesthetics
  • Waste Issues
  • Highways

Crawley featured in the small local authority category at the awards on 26th November.

Award for information leading to convictions in Three Bridges

The family of a victim who was attacked in Crawley have put up a reward for information leading to a conviction.

A 22 year-old woman was attacked at LB1 Bar in Gales Drive, Three Bridges back in October.  She was approached by three women who struck her in the face several times.

Other guests in the bar had to restrain the attackers around 11.30 the evening of Friday 10th October.

Teenager arrested on suspicion of assault in Horsham

A teenager has been questioned over an attack on a couple with learning difficulties in Horsham.

The 17 year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault following the incident last week, and released on bail.

The victims – a man and a woman both in their twenties – were at Horsham bus station on 25th November just before 7 o’clock in the evening.  A group of teenagers arrived in Worthing Road and began throwing sweets at the couple.

One of the teenagers then approached the man, who also had physical disabilities, and started hitting him.  The woman was pushed out the way whilst her companion was grabbed by the throat.
