Strikes in Sussex

There are going to be a lot of strikes next week in West Sussex as 5 unions have announced industrial action.

On Thursday 10 July The National Union of Teachers, The Fire Brigades Union, Unite and the GMB, will all be taking a stand in their disputes with the Government.

While West Sussex County Council will try and minimise the impact of the strikes they are also advising that parents keep an eye on school webs there might be some problems with council services.

Queens Square Crawley Consultation

The design for Queens Square in Crawley is up for discussion as the designers want to hear what residents, business and visitors want out of the new Square.

Crawley Borough Council and West Sussex County Council are investing £3 million to improve Queens Square.

As of today people are being encouraged to let staff from the designers, Burns + Nice know how Queens Square is currently used, how people feel about it and what changes would mean that they would use the area more.

Burns & Nice staff will be in the town centre over the next couple of weeks asking questions to find out what people think.

Surrey Composting

Surrey Residents have composted nearly 1000 tonnes – 64 garden sheds worth – of waste this year.

More than 15,000 bins have been sold through Surrey County Council in the past 5 years to encourage more green behaviour. You can compost garden, fruit and vegetable waste as well as other items like shredded cardboard and egg shells. Within a year it becomes nutritious compost to use on the garden.
