Redhill Rubbish Monitored for Pollution

Air above a rubbish tip in Cormongers Lane, Redhill is to be monitored for pollution because of a sewage-like smell coming from the site.

Over the last 3 months, there have been over 500 complaints and The Environment Agency is now installing a monitoring station that will take samples to check for levels of gasses including nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide and hydrogen sulphide.

According to the agency, a preliminary health risk assessment of the air quality found the levels of the gas were not high enough to be of concern to public health.
