Collision Near Gatwick

Two people have been seriously injured in a collision near Gatwick Airport.

A Citroen Picasso and a Landrover Freelander were travelling in opposite directions during rush hour Monday evening (23rd June) when they collided on Balcombe Road near Fernhill Lane.

A woman from Horley is in a critical condition with head and body injuries; and the other driver, a woman from Crawley Down, is being treated for facial and back injuries.

Sussex Police are asking anyone who saw what happened to contact them via 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Shilton.

Horley Tennis Club Fire

A blaze at the weekend has devastated members of one of the oldest lawn tennis clubs in the country.

Firefighters were called to the Horley Lawn Tennis clubhouse in Vicarage Lane during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The clubhouse was coming to the end of a £250,000 rebuild when the fire took hold, collapsing the roof and destroying the interior.

Doversgreen Playgroup Appeal

Doversgreen Playgroup are appealing for help with finding alternative premises that would be suitable to use as a nursery.

The Playgroup is a non-profit making nursery and has been situated in the grounds of Doversgreen School since 2000,and it is hugley popualr and beneficial to the children from 2-4 years.

The nursery has been given six months notice by Surrey County Council to vacate the current building and if it cannot find a suitable property by then they will be forced to close.

Potholes in Crawley

Crawley Mp Henry Smith has welcomed the announcement of £2,508,556 of new funding this month to tackle potholes across West Sussex.

In total, £5,984,524 of additional funding for West Sussex County Council has been announced for this year, on top of the annual roads maintenance budget.

Residents are urged to notify West Sussex Highways Maintenance of hazardous potholes by telephoning the team directly.

Crawley Burglary

Burglars in Crawley have stolen a military medal and veteran pin badge from a home in London road.

The break in happened between 12.14 and 1.45 on Thursday the 5th of June and the intruder took items including a bronze medal with Army Foundation College written on it, two small veteran pins with crossed swords on them, a trinket box, a circular gold locket and a ladies watch.
