Gang Attack on Cat

A cat is undergoing treatment after teenagers set a dog on it in Bewbush.

Three boys were playing with the ginger feline in Arne Close, before picking it up and waiving it in front of their dog.

The dog, thought to be a white Staffordshire bull terrier with tanned patches, was off its lead and was reportedly encouraged to attack the cat, which the boys were still holding.

A neighbour disturbed them around 7.30 Last Monday evening and the boys reportedly threw the cat over a fence as they fled.

Two of the boys have been described as 14-15 years old, both of white origin, one had light blonde hair shaved at both sides; the second had dark brown hair.

Bletchingley Fire

An investigation is underway after a barn caught fire in Bletchingley the early hours of yesterday (Tues 20th May) morning. Motorists driving along the M23 raised the alarm after a cloud of smoke impaired their vision just before half-past one. £100,000 worth of damage is thought to have been caused by the suspicious blaze.

Cigarette Thefts in Redhill and Crawley

Several thousand pounds worth of cigarettes have been stolen in Redhill.

It is thought that the occupant of a green Ford Mondeo took the cigarettes from a Co-operative lorry after the delivery driver stopped for directions around 10.30 Saturday morning.

The driver parked up in the High Street and saw the offender leave the rear of his lorry and get into the Mondeo.

The suspect is described as a white man, with dark hair, around 5ft 10ins tall and of plump build. He was wearing a high-vis jacket at the time of the offence.

Around £25,000 worth of cigarettes are thought to have been taken in the theft.

Meanwhile over 3-and-a-half thousand pounds worth of cigarettes were stolen from the back of a lorry outside a Co-Op store in Ifield Parade.

A man, described as white, about 25 years old, 6′ and of average build was seen fleeing with a large bag after opening up the rear of the lorry as it was reversing.

He was wearing a red vest and black hat.

The theft happened at around 6 o’clock last Tuesday afternoon.

Crawley Town Stadium Improvements

Work has finished on improvements to the condition of the pitch at the Checkatrade.com Stadium in Crawley

120 tonnes of soil, thatch and grass has been removed and the pitch has been re-seeded ready for the first pre-season friendly in mid-July.

The improvements are expected to prevent a repeat of the drainage issues that occurred at the stadium last season.

Fatal Accident in Lingfield

It’s been confirmed that a young woman in her 20s was killed in a crash in Lingfield in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police were called to the accident on Godstone Road – just before 4am.

The accident happened when a white Ford Fiesta left the road and hit a tree.

The driver, who was a woman in her 20s was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed.

An investigation has been launched and police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the car before the accident.
