Crawley Car Crash

An 18-year-old man has been seriously injured after his red Ford Fiesta left the A264 in Crawley and collided with a lampost.

The driver suffered a broken hip and coccyx and was taken to the East Surrey Hospital at Redhill for treatment.

The incident occurred at the roundabout junction with Tollgate Hill at 4.18 pm on the 5th of April, police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 986 of 05/04.

East Surrey’s Water resources are at their highest level ever for the month of March

This comes after an unprecedented heavy rainfall in the last three months, although March has delivered below average rainfall

The water company are now well-placed to cope with customer demand for spring and summer approach.

So hopefully, no hosepipe ban this year!

Weekend Sports Roundup

A late goal gave Crewe a vital win at Crawley, as they battle to beat the drop from League One. The Reds remain 3 points outside the relegation zone with 2 matches in hand.

In the Ryman League, Crawley Down Gatwick went down 2 -1 at home to Faversham, while Merstham beat Walton Casuals 2-1. Three Bridges suffered a 2 – 1 loss at home to Hastings United while Redhill had a good 3 – 2 away win at Walton and Hersham.

Elsewhere Horley Town beat Badshot Lea 2 -1 and South Park thrashed Molesey by 4 goals to one.

Veteran Car Run Changing

The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is changing this year.

The compulsory half-way stop in Crawley is being moved from High Street to London Road.

For 19 years the drivers parked in front of the historic George Hotel. In November, they will be pulling up on the forecourt of a car dealership.

Susy Radio has been talking with various people about the move, looking at the balance between the need for sponsors and upkeeping the tradition and ethos of the event – which this year celebrates 118th anniversary.
