Energy Bosses Questioned over Power Cuts

Power Bosses Questioned Over Power Cuts

Bosses of power companies were questioned by MPs yesterday over how well they responded to the Christmas storms.
Strong winds brought down power lines just ahead of the festive period with the south east of England, particularly parts of Kent, Surrey and Sussex, being hit worst by the power failures.
The committee examined how the companies reacted to the weather and how they communicated with their customers.
Mark Mathieson, managing director of Scottish and Southern Energy’s electricity networks, praised the efforts of staff who worked hard to reconnect properties.
He added that he felt affected customers were understanding of the problems caused by what he describes as “an unique weather situation”
But he admit that he feels the industry still has to “learn lessons”.
