Pregnant Woman Threatened in Crawley

A pregnant woman and her unborn child were threatened in a road rage incident which took place on Friday 7th in Crawley town centre

Just before 4pm the car which was carrying the pregnant woman, drove the wrong way down a one way street

The driver of another vehicle approached the original car and tried to smash its windows, and apparently made threats to the pregnant woman.

A police spokesman confirmed that two females had been arrested in relation to the accident.

They are still appealing for anyone who saw the incident to come forward and call them on 101.

Kenley water treatment works is operating normally

Water treatment works at Kenley is operating normally

This is despite the flooding emergency currently taking place in the valley. This news comes from Sutton and East Surrey Water who want to reassure its customers.

More than 46 thousand properties and one hundred and sixteen thousand people receive their water from the works. If it does have to shut down the company says it is planning to supply customers by re-routing additional supplies from other treatment works.

The company is working closely with Croydon Council, the London Fire Brigade, and other agencies to ensure flood defence work and efforts to remove the water are coordinated.

Good Economic Growth in Surrey

New figures have revealed Surrey’s economy grew by 8% in a year

This outstripped the rest of the UK.

County council leader David Hodge has pledged continued backing for business to encourage this growth.

According to the Office for National Statistics the amount Surrey generated for the nation’s economy climbed by £2.4 billion between 2011 and 2012 to more than £32bn.

That represented annual growth of more than 8% compared with the UK rate of 1.6% – outstripping the rest of the UK. County council leader David Hodge has pledged continued backing for business to encourage this growth.

Trading Standards Fine Builder

A builder from West Sussex has been fined for not telling two elderly customers they could legally cancel their contract in a seven-day cooling off period.

Albert Brazil traded as First Class Property Maintenance. He was convicted by Worthing Magistrates Court after a case was brought by West Sussex Trading Standards.

Brazil, who did not attend court, was fined £4,000 and ordered to pay £1,934 prosecution costs plus a victim surcharge of £400.

Reigate Gunshot Victim Identified

The man who died after a shotgun was discharged at a gun store in Reigate on Tuesday has been formally identified as Michael Joseph Belford Surrey Police say.

Mr Belford who was 76 visited the John Powell Gun Makers on Church Street just after 9am.

At 9.40am officers were called to the scene after a report that a gun had been discharged at the location and Mr Belford was declared dead at the scene.

It’s still not certain if the shooting was accidental
