Police seek to Interview Man in Crawley

Police are looking for a 22-year old man in the Crawley area who they want to interview in connection with various alleged crimes, including  assault and threats to commit criminal damage.

Harry Brackpool, is described as white. 6′, of average build, with short brown hair and with blue eyes and often rides a bicycle.

A 16-year old woman received leg injuries during an incident in October, and threats are alleged to have been made to her and her property by phone and in person.

Police have said they believe that Harry Brackpool is in the Crawley area.

Surrey CC Continues to Help After Flood

Surrey County Council’s  been  doing its bit to tackle the fallout from the severe weather over the festive period.

Now we have news that Highways teams have dealt with around 150 instances of flooding affecting roads and nearly 600 cases of fallen trees. Meanwhile Surrey Fire and Rescue Services had more than 1,000 calls between 23 December and Christmas Day morning, when the weather was at its worst

In addition the county’s social care teams helped to staff rest centres at the height of the bad weather and have helped residents needing accommodation due to flooding. While many people have been able to stay with family and friends there have been about 20 cases where the council has had to put people up in hotels..

Adult social care teams have also been visiting vulnerable people without power to make sure they have everything they need.

Man Injured in Earlswood Car Accident

A man in his 30s was taken to the East Surrey Hospital following an accident in Earlswood on Saturday morning. He was driving a grey Lexus which hit a parked van in Earlswood Road shortly after 10am.

The man was last night described as being in a serious but stable condition.

Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses, so if you saw anything, please contact them on the non emergency number 101 quoting reference p13394997.

Surrey CC Providing Help After Floods and Bad Weather

With bad Weather continuing to affect Sussex and Surrey, residents and drivers are being urged to keep updated on flood alerts and weather warnings.

People are being advised to be extra cautious when out and about,  and to consult the environment agency website for advice on what to do after flooding.

And to help residents with clearing up debris and scattered rubbish after the floods,  Surrey County Council have provided extra skips across the County.

Advice on what to do after flooding can be found on the Environment Agency and Public Health England websites.

Residents can find out the latest on river flooding and the weather by visiting the Environment Agency and Met Office websites.

Water supply problems can be reported to Thames Water, Sutton and East Surrey, Affinity Water and Southern Water.

Drivers and residents can keep updated on general safety tips via the county council’s website and on local travel updates via the Surrey Travel Twitter feed and BBC website. The county council has also been helping out with clearing roads and removing fallen trees while Surrey 4×4 Response has been providing the authority with extra support.

A supermarket tour initiative could help you make, and stick to, your healthy eating New Year resolutions.

Crawley Wellbeing advisors will be visiting the town’s shops in January and February offering free tours with advice, tips and ideas for healthy shopping and eating habits.

The tours will include the basics of understanding food labels, and choosing food for a healthy and balanced diet.

Councillor Nigel Boxall said that Crawley Wellbeing’s supermarket tours offer an opportunity to see healthy eating advice in action in the place we make most of our food decisions.
