WSCC praised for improvemed services for care leavers

West Sussex County Council has been praised for its ‘substantially improved’ services that help young people leaving care.

An Ofsted inspection said the council has created ‘a culture of excellent support’ for care leavers.

Inspectors visited the county council in July when they assessed arrangements for care leavers aged 18 to 25

Crawley Community Groups Receive Funding Boost

Seven Crawley community groups have received over £46,000 in grants from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The fund aims to increase opportunities between those in the most and least deprived areas in Crawley.

The money will be used to provide support to projects that boost productivity, pay, jobs and living standards.

Crawley Borough Council has managed to secure £1 million from the UKSPF over three years to be spent in Bewbush, Broadfield and West Green.

Man Fined for Fly Tipping

A man has been fined after he was caught fly-tipping behind Langley green Parade.

The Borough Council’s Community Protection Team was alerted to the offence following a video posted on social media in May.

The video showed a man and a boy removing items from a car and dumping them behind the shopping parade.

He was traced and interviewed under cation where he was then issued with a fixed penalty notice of £400 that has been paid.

Crawley Borough Council are inviting residents to have their say on the council’s air quality action plan.

The five-year outlay aims to improve air quality and reduce resident’s exposure to air pollution.

Plans include installation of more electric vehicle charging points, energy efficiency in council homes and infrastructure upgrades.

Residents can have their say before the 13th September via the council’s website.

Family pay tribute to murdered Stephanie Marie

The family of Stephanie Marie, who was found stabbed in Crawley train station car park have paid tribute to a “much-loved daughter, sister and mother”.

In a statement, her family said: “We are devastated that her young life has been ended in this way. She had her whole life ahead of her.”

Specialist officers are supporting her family at this time

26-year-old, Jason Pascal Flore, has been charged with her murder.
