Surrey Fire and Rescue Service: Proposed Changes

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service has proposed seven changes across the county in a new plan which looks at how resources are deployed to meet risk and demand.

One of the proposals is to relocate the fire engine and crew at Banstead Fire Station to Godstone Fire Station.  Chief Fire Officer, Dan Quin says the lease at Banstead’s site ends next year and is not fit for purpose.

Further proposals have been made for the West of Surrey including a review of the specialist vehicles and equipment, where they are located, and whether they need to invest in new technology.

You can read the consultation and give feedback on the proposals at surreysays.co.uk/sfrs/crmp.

Further Industrial Action at East Surrey Hospital

Nursing Assistants and maternity support workers at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust are taking part in further industrial action this week.

The strike action started yesterday and will continue until Thursday.

This is the third time Unison Union members have taken industrial action in a dispute over back pay, after the Trust offered to change their salary band.  Unison said there has been progress in negotiations but a satisfactory offer on back pay had not been received.

The Trust, which runs East Surrey Hospital, advises patients with scheduled appointments to attend unless informed otherwise.
