Steam Locomotive From Three Bridges

A special visitor came to Three Bridges Station at the weekend. 

A steam locomotive headed a train excursion to the south coast; the Merchant Navy class pacific 35028 Clan Line, owned by the Merchant Navy Locomotive Society, left Three Bridges early on Saturday stopping at stations to Worthing to pick up passengers before continuing its journey to Salisbury and Bath. 

There were only ever 30 of these locomotives built; each were named after shipping companies that used Southampton and other south coast docks during World War 2.

Banking Hub For Dorking

A new banking hub has been announced for Dorking. 

LINK, an organisation that helps people across the country to access cash, recommended the permanent provision of the hub.  Mole Valley District Council has confirmed that the setting up of the banking hub will be led by Cash Access UK and is expected to be in place in Dorking in a matter of months. 

The Council which has been pushing for banking hubs to replace closed bank branches in the district since July 2022, thanked everyone who sent messages to LINK during the assessment period.

Council refers itself to the social housing regulator

Tandridge District Council has referred itself to the social housing regulator for failing to carry out mandatory electrical testing at its residential properties.

The council said it had begun a “major programme” to complete electrical installation condition reports after discovering that testing had not been carried out properly.

Thr local authority will be contacting tenants to tell them when their property will be tested.

New skate park offers sessions for older skates

A new indoor skate park has opened in Haywards Heath, offering Silver Surfer sessions for older skaters.

The Skate Farm, is an organic, no concrete skate park aimed at those with all skating abilities.

Founder Tom Johnston said the oldest member of his over 35s sessions was 65.

The skate park is open to all abilities, with skateboards, scooters, inclines and quad skates.

The skate park is also wheelchair friendly to accommodate WMX users.
