Rangers at Ashdown Forest say that a sheep within a permanent grazing enclosure has been killed in a dog attack.

The incident was believed to have taken place on the South Chase on Friday morning where the animal received bites to its back legs.

Attempts to save the sheep at Crest Farm where emergency treatment was given were in vain as the animal died later that day.

Anyone who may have information or who possibly witnessed the attack are asked to contact the duty ranger at Ashdown Forest.
