56 arrests after Redhill targeted police activity

A partnership initiative to improve safety and reduce crime in Redhill has resulted in 56 arrests along with the recovery of drugs, cash and knives.

Over the past six months, partners have been developing and implementing measures to reduce crime as part of the Safer Redhill programme.

The initiative has lead to 21 people being charged and 39 community resolutions for lower-level offences.

Witnesses Sought in Relation to Horley Attack

Surrey police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Horley on Saturday morning.

Police were called in the early hours to a bus stop outside The Jack Fairman Pub on Victoria Road, where they found the victim with serious injuries to his head and face.

If anyone was a witness to the incident, or has dashcam or mobile footage, then you’re asked to contact police on 101.

Running Down the Runway at Gatwick

Around 1,700 runners took part in a fun run on Sunday within the confines of a restricted area of Gatwick airport.

The 10K event saw the participants take part along the full stretch of the main runway.

The run had an flying theme to the day which started and finished at the aviation museum.

Gatwick Airport said it was supporting Run Gatwick to help fundraise for local charities.

The winner was Paul Prothero from Tadworth.

Man Jailed for Redhill Attack

A man who kicked over an elderly shopper in Redhill for what was seemingly for fun has been jailed.

33-year-old Scott McAndrew has been sentenced to three years for assault against the pensioner in their 80’s which happened in October last year.

CCTV shows McAndrew attempting to cover his identity before approaching the victim from behind, where he kicked them so hard they fell down and broke their ribs.

He was sentenced after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm.

Crawley Town FC Through to League 2 Play Off Finals at Wembley

Crawley Town have reached the League 2 play off finals at Wembley for the first time in the club’s history. 

Scott Lindsey’s side established a 3-0 first leg lead over MK Dons at the Broadfield Stadium on Tuesday night.  The Reds secured a 5-1 second leg victory on Saturday resulting in an 8-1 win on aggregate.  Crawley broke the record for the biggest aggregate win in EFL play off history. 

Crawley Town will face Crewe Alexandra in the League 2 play off final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.  Kick off is at 1.00 o’clock.
