Drivers Advised to do Research Before Parking at Gatwick Airport

Travellers making their way to Gatwick airport by car are being urged to do their research on “Meet and Greet” parking companies.

The advice is coming from Sussex Police and Wessex Trading Standards who receive regular reports from customers of poor service.

Previous complaints include damage to vehicles, being returned dirty or have more miles added to the clock.

Gatwick Police Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector James Biggs said: “By doing research you will be more confident to leave your vehicle with your chosen company and enjoy your travels.”

Football: Play Offs for Crawley Town, Horsham FC & Three Bridges FC

Crawley Town’s 2-0 win over Grimsby Town, together with other match results going their way, meant the Reds have secured their place in the League 2 play offs.  Manager Scott Lindsey spoke to Gary Smith from BBC Radio Sussex:

Meanwhile Sutton United finished second from bottom in League 2 and are relegated to the National League.

Horsham FC have reached their first ever Isthmian Premier Division play offs following their victory over Concord Rangers at the weekend; Horsham travel to Chatham Town for the play off on Wednesday.

Three Bridges finished the season in fourth place in the Isthmian South East and secured their place in the semi final play off tomorrow evening away to Sittingbourne FC.

 

Improvements to Horley’s Central Car Park

Improvement work will start next week to modernise Central car park in Horley town centre. 

The first phase of works will start on Tuesday 7th May and will take around six to eight weeks. 

Both the main area and overflow parking areas of Central car park will be closed to the public but the access road will remain open for residents and businesses.

Car park users and permit holders can use the borough’s other town centre car parks in the High Street and Victoria Road. 

Redhill: Potential Closure of Marks and Spencer’s Belfry Store

Marks and Spencer has started a consultation with its Redhill staff regarding the potential closure of its store in the Belfry Shopping Centre.

In October 2022, M&S announced it was restructuring its business to focus on its food-only stores as part of a plan to close over 100 sites. 

Manager of The Belfry, Andy Nash, said the Redhill store has been “much loved” by customers for the past 33 years and wished “all of the Redhill M&S staff well during the consultation process and beyond”. 

Last month, Marks and Spencer announced the closure of their Crawley store located in Queensway.

Football: Crawley and Sutton charged after post match clash

Sutton United and Crawley Town have been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following a clash between players after their match on Saturday.

The FA charge said that both clubs had allegedly failed to ensure that their players and technical area occupants do not behave in an improper or provocative way after the final whistle.

The teams have until Friday to respond to the charges.
