Priory Park Sport

A festival of sport is due to take place in Priory Park Reigate next Sunday, May the 4th.

The event involves demonstrations and advice on over 30 sports and a giant inflatable slide.

Sports include cycling, tennis, rugby, hockey, archery, basketball and many more.

Weekend Football

Substitute Garry Thompson headed a late winner on Saturday as Bradford City beat Crawley Town 2 – 1. The Reds are now in 14th place in league one with two games to play.

In the lower leagues, there were victories for Horley, Three Bridges and Merstham. It wasn’t all good news with losses for Crawley Down Gatwick and South Park, while Redhill suffered a nightmare 7 nil defeat at Corinthian Casuals.

Weekend Sports Preview

In sport tomorrow, South Park travel to Bedfont Sports in the Combined Counties Premier Division.

Horley have home advantage against Frimley Green.

Mole Valley are away to Windsor.

In the Combined Counties Division One, Dorking are home to South Kilburn.

In League One, Crawley Town make the trip to Bradford, hoping to improve upon their defeat during the week to Notts County.

Meanwhile Redhill FC travel to Corinthian Casuals in the Ryman League.

And Merstham Cricket Club second XI are home to Reigate Priory starting 1 o’clock.

Holiday Sports Roundup

Crawley Town had a busy Easter weekend with 2 matches over the holiday period. After a good home 2-1 victory on Good Friday against Leyton Orient, the Reds went down 1-0 at Notts County yesterday afternoon. They’re now on 55 points and safe from the drop in League One.

Also confirmed safe are Premier League Crystal Palace after their 1 nil away win at West Ham on Saturday took them to 43 points.

Elsewhere, Redhill had a mixed weekend, winning 2 – 1 away at Tooting and Mitcham on Saturday, but going down 3-2 at home to Sittingbourne yesterday. Likewise, Merstham had a good game on Saturday beating Herne Bay 3 -1 but lost 3 -2 at Folkstone Invicta yesterday. Crawley Down Gatwick had a poor holiday weekend succumbing 5-2 at Sittingbourne on Saturday and 6 nil at home on Bank Holiday Monday. And Three Bridges also had a mixed Easter losing 3-2 at home on Saturday to Folkstone but coming out 4-2 winners at Whitstable yesterday.

Finally, South Park won both their Easter matches, with a 2-0 victory at Epsom and Ewell and victory against Horley Town by a similar margin at home. Horley Town’s Saturday match ended in a 2-1 defeat by Westfield.

Weekend Sports Review

Crawley Town eased their League One relegation fears with an impressive 2 – 0 away win that dented MK Dons’ slim play-off hopes.

The result means The Reds are now six points clear of the relegation zone with two games in hand.

Meanwhile in the Ryman League, Crawley Down Gatwick had a nightmare Saturday afternoon, going down 5 -0 at home to Leatherhead while Merstham suffered a 3 – 1 away defeat at Peacehaven. Good news for Redhill, as they managed a 3 – 1 home win against Hythe Town.

Elsewhere, Horley Town lost 2 – 1 at Hanworth Villa but it was a good result for South Park who ended up 1 – 0 winners at home to Camberley Town.
