Crawley Town suffered a 4-1 defeat at Mansfield Town on Saturday. The Reds are again just one place above the League Two relegation zone.
In the National League, Dorking Wanderers made it three straight league wins with a 2-0 victory away to Dagenham and Redbridge. It was Dorking’s first away win since September.
Sussex captain Tom Haines and all-rounder Dan Ibrahim have signed
three-year contract extensions with the club.
Left-handed opening batter Haines, 24, featured for England Lions during their tour of Sri Lanka this year.
He has scored 3,107 runs, including nine centuries, at an average of
37.89 in his 48 first-class appearances.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Ibrahim made his Sussex debut aged 16 and became the youngest player to make a half-century in the County Championship.
He has scored 525 runs and taken six wickets in his 12 first-class
appearances for the Hove-based side, and hit his maiden century against Glamorgan in the final Championship fixture of 2022.
“Tom is an outstanding opening batter in county cricket and has done a fantastic job for Sussex over the last couple of years,” Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace told the club website.
“There is no doubt his name will be spoken about as an England opener in the near future.
“Dan is without a doubt one of the most exciting young talents in
English cricket. He is a true all-rounder that can bat at the top of the
order and is skilful with the ball.
“He is someone that we are really excited about.”
Crawley Town picked up a crucial three points at the Broadfield Stadium on Saturday. The Reds won 2-0 over League 2 relegation rivals, Rochdale. The win lifts Crawley out of the relegation zone.
In the National League, Dorking Wanderers won 3-1 against Maidenhead United at Meadowbank.
Crawley narrowly avoided relegation with a draw against Doncaster Rovers.
Rovers scored very late in the first half with a goal from Laverly but a last minute goal from Khaleel rescued Crawley from the relegation zone.
Crawley currently places 22nd in the league.
In League 2, Crawley Town won 3-0 over Harrogate on Saturday. The much needed three points have lifted the Reds a little closer to safety but they remain in the relegation zone.
Dorking Wanderers lost their National League match 3-1 away to Notts County.
Merstham won 2-0 over Ashford Town. A couple of successive wins have helped the Moatsiders climb to 17th place in the Isthmian South Central Division.
In the South East Division, Three Bridges drew 1-1 away to Sittingbourne, and East Grinstead lost 5-0 away to top of the table Ramsgate.
