Football Update

Crawley Town lost 1-0 away to Northampton Town on Saturday.  The Reds remain second from bottom in the League 2 table.

It was a goalless draw for Dorking Wanderers in their National League match against Halifax Town at Meadowbank.  The point moves Dorking up to 19th place.

Reigate and Banstead Sports Awards 2023

The annual Reigate & Banstead Sports Awards took place last week.  Local residents nominated a total of 77 individuals, teams, volunteers and coaches.  An independent panel chose the winners who were presented with their awards at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill. 

Among the winners in the eleven categories were Reigate Rugby Football Club who won ‘Club of the Year’.  ‘Team of the Year’ was awarded to Reigate Priory under 13 Girls Cricket Club.

Tranmere Rovers 1 – 0 Crawley Town

Tranmere Rovers earned their second win in four day after beating Crawley 1-0.

Jordan Turnbull’s third goal of the season kept Tranmere’s slim play-off hopes alive while Crawley remained in relegation places.

Crawley were handed a lifeline with 10 minutes remaining when Joe Lynch was brought down in the box, only for Telford to blast his spot-kick over the bar.

Crawley are placed 23rd in the table.

Zaid Al-Hussaini leaves Crawley Town FC

Crawley Town Football Club has confirmed midfielder Zaid Al-Hussaini has left the club by mutual consent.

Al-Hussaini joined the club on a three year deal in July 2020.

Zaid made three competitive appearances for Crawley, most recently against Portsmouth in the Papa Johns Trophy.

Dorking Wanderers lost their National League match 3-1 away to Wrexham.
