Football Update

Crawley Town move out of the relegation zone in the League 2 table after their 3-2 win over Mansfield Town on Saturday.

Dorking Wanderers won their National League match 2-1 at home to Wealdstone FC.

Both Redhill and Horley Town are out of the FA Vase; Redhill lost 1-0 away to Bedfont, and Horley lost 4-0 away to Peacehaven and Telscombe.

Football Update

Crawley Town gained a much needed three points winning 2-1 at home to Newport County on Saturday.  It was the Reds’ first match since Lewis Young took over as interim manager since Kevin Betsy’s departure last week.

Dorking Wanderers are out of the FA Cup after losing their 4th qualifying round tie 3-1 against Eastleigh at Meadowbank.

South Park Reigate are in fourth place in the Isthmian South Central Division after their 3-1 win at home to Binfield.

Merstham find themselves bottom of the South Central table, losing 3-2 away to Ashford Town. Merstham were relegated from the Premier Division last season.

Crawley Town sack Kevin Betsy

Bottom of the league, Crawley Town have sacked manager Kevin Betsy after four months in charge.

Under his management, the red won only one of their 12 league, and his assistant Dan Micciche has also left the club.

The highpoint of his spell in charge was a 2-0 win over Fulham in the Carabao Cup.

Lewis Young will take interim charge of the team.

Surrey & Sussex cricketers given Central Contract offers

The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced the Central Contract offers for England Men’s international cricket for the year from 1 October 2022, with both Sussex and Surrey cricketers included.

The system, which covers both red-ball and white-ball players, takes into account the likelihood of players featuring in England teams across formats in the next 12 months, whilst also recognising performances in the preceding year.

In total 30 players have received Central Contract offers – 18 England Annual Central Contracts, six England Increment Contracts, and six England Pace Bowling Development Contracts.

From Sussex fast-bowlers Jofra Archer and Ollie Robinson have been given contracts. Ben Foakes, Ollie Pope and Sam Curran have all received Annual Central Contracts, alongside Reece Topley, Jason Roy and Jamie Overton.

Football Update

Crawley Town lost 3-0 away to Grimsby Town on Saturday.  The Reds are now bottom of the League 2 table with just 6 points so far this season.

Dorking Wanderers lost their National League match 4-1 away to Alt ring um. Altrincham.  Dorking are next back in action on Saturday when they meet Eastleigh in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.

In the Isthmian South Central League, despite being down to 10 men, South Park Reigate won 1-0 over Sutton Common Rovers. Merstham lost 3-2 away to Northwood. 02

East Grinstead won their South East division match 2-0 at home to Lancing, and Three Bridges lost 2-1 away to Chichester.
