Students of Reigate School of Art’s Heraldic Art, Calligraphy and Illumination course, have presented an heraldic scroll to Reigate and Banstead Borough Council to mark the King’s accession.

The Council commissioned the students to create the scroll which will be sent to His Majesty on behalf of the borough.

The King’s Scroll has been a year in planning and creation and illustrates the official Proclamation by the Accession Council which was then repeated by towns and cities throughout the UK.

The students designed and created a beautiful and historic piece of work on fine calf skin, decorated with gold leaf and various motifs.

The Scroll has been signed by the Mayor, and Leader of the Council, and the borough seal has been added; it has been framed and will be sent to the palace.

Susy Radio’s David King attended the presentation which took place at East Surrey College on Friday and spoke with College staff, the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead together with local dignitaries:

Surrey M25 Closure

The M25 will be closed both ways from 9 pm tonight until 6 am on Monday morning between junction 10 for Wisley and junction 11 for Chertsey.

The full closure is needed for demolition works and gantry installation.  It is the first time there has been a scheduled daytime shutdown of all lanes on the M25 since it opened in 1986.

National Highways say that motorists will experience severe delays and should avoid the area entirely.
