Banstead Library has launched a new Magic Table for Adults with Dementia and those with learning disabilities.

The Tovertafel or Magic Table is an innovation from the Netherlands where a ceiling mounted projector shows light games onto a standard table surface.  The games are interactive and can be played by a group of people to encourage social contact and movement.  The Tovertafel is free to use.

Banstead Library was chosen as the location for the table as part of a working group to make Banstead a dementia friendly village.

Redhill Library Closes Due To RAAC

Photo credit:  Surrey County Council News.

Redhill Library has once again been forced to close as a more detailed structural survey identified further RAAC (reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete) in the building.

Urgent work will need to be undertaken before timelines for re-opening can be provided.  Return dates for all items on loan have been automatically extended to Monday 8th January.

The library is in the same building as the Harlequin Theatre which temporarily closed in September and has moved its pantomime to a Big Top in Memorial Park.

Merstham and Reigate libraries are open to residents and a list of alternative warm hub spaces can be found here:
