Fire Service Safety Advice Ahead of Halloween and Bonfire Night

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has issued some safety advice ahead of Halloween and Bonfire Night.

It says it’s better to attend an organised firework display and use battery-operated tea lights for Halloween decorations.  Halloween costumes should be bought from reputable suppliers ensuring they have a UKCA or a CE mark.

The fire service advises people to only buy fireworks with a CE mark and store them safely in a closed box.

The Children’s Burns Trust predicts that around 500 people will be injured due to firework-related incidents across the country this year.

RAAC Found at Reigate Police Station

Last week we heard on Susy Radio that the Redhill Pantomime will be relocated to a Big Top in Memorial Park after Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) was discovered at The Harlequin Theatre.

Now, RAAC has been discovered at Reigate Police Station, prompting Surrey Police to move some of its staff and officers to other locations.  Although areas of RAAC at the Police Station have been reinforced by vertical support pillars, enabling some staff to remain at Reigate, office based teams will be relocated to Caterham or will work remotely.  The public facing front counter service will move to Caterham Police Station from next Monday.
