SES Water: No Hosepipe Ban For East Surrey

Photo:  SES Water, Godstone

SES Water has told its customers that it’s not planning a hosepipe ban.

In an email, the water company serving the East Surrey and Sutton area, says it can’t rule out the need for restrictions in the future but they’re not yet in a position where they feel it’s necessary.

Although Bough Beech reservoir is lower than expected at this time of year, SES Water mainly relies on sources stored under the ground where there’s less chance of evaporation.

The announcement comes after South East Water announced a hosepipe ban for its Kent and Sussex customers from this Friday.

Redhill celebrates local lionesses

Lionesses Millie Bright and Rachel Daly, who resides with Millie on occasion as a training partner, returned home to the RH1 area on Monday afternoon after the edge of your seat thrilling winning of the European Cup final against Germany 2:1 at Wembley on Sunday.

The local heroes and now celebrities asked for a quiet homecoming but locals adorned trees with messages and bunting acknowledging the proud moment of winning and the legacy they have provided going forwards for the woman’s game of football.

Surrey Police Summer Drink Drive Campaign

Surrey Police have launched their annual summer crackdown on drink and drug drivers across the county.

Last year, 416 drivers on Surrey’s roads under the influence of drink or drugs were arrested and charged.

From 1 August to 1 September, Police will have extra resources dedicated to preventing and detecting incidents of such driving.

In line with previous campaigns, anyone arrested during this period and then convicted, will be identified on their website and social media channels as a deterrent.

Chief Inspector Michael Hodder, of the Surrey and Sussex Roads Policing Unit, said: “It cannot be said enough how much drink and drug-driving can ruin lives.”

Fighting Dog Thefts With Forensics

Surrey Police is turning to DNA technology to tackle dog thefts in the county.

They have launched a partnership with DNA Protected, a UK wide dog DNA database service designed to deter theft and help ensure a stolen dog’s safe return to its owner.

The service securely stores a profile of your dog’s unique DNA from a mouth swab on a forensic database.  Police forces across the country can swab a dog they believe to be stolen and send the sample off for analysis.  If a swab comes back with a match, it can provide evidence in dog theft investigations.

Dog owners can purchase a sampling kit by visiting dnaprotected.co.uk.
