Reigate and Banstead Borough Council presented some long service awards to volunteers earlier this month.
As part of the annual Reigate and Banstead Volunteer Awards, the Long Service Award was introduced this year to coincide with the Council’s 50th anniversary.
The Mayor of Reigate and Banstead, Councillor Eddy Humphreys, gave the winners their certificates and thanked them for their dedication and hard work.
The awards were presented by Nicholas Owen who was also honoured for his voluntary work with the Children’s Trust and St Catherine’s Hospice. A team award was presented to volunteers from the Redhill Corps of Drums and Band; four of whom have been with the band for over 30 years.

Gatwick Airport has been granted a High Court injunction to prohibit environmental protestors.
The injunction prevents anyone from entering, occupying or remaining on the airport in connection with Just Stop Oil or any other environmental campaign group without the permission of Gatwick Airport Limited.
Anyone breaching the injunction could be imprisoned for up to two years, fined or have their assets seized for contempt of court.

Three hundred steps at Box Hill have been refurbished to encourage better sustainable access.
The steps which cross the steep hillside linking the Stepping Stones path to the summit have been excavated and rebuilt thanks to over £53,000 of funding. The steps were originally installed by volunteers in the 1980s but had become eroded.
The new steps have been constructed using around 15 tons of recycled plastic which has been manufactured from 7,731,360 million milk bottle tops.
The work took three months with much of the construction being done by hand rather than machinery due to the challenging location of the steps.
