“Ben’s Drive – The Challenge” came about when we were challenged to have a go at as many sports as we could in one day, something that we probably regret now!
Now us radio presenters are not the fittest bunch in the world and this challenge was going to really hurt! But Neil and Ben decided if we were going to be challenged we would raise money for charity and with Comic Relief only 3 weeks off it was all hands on deck.
Susy Radio decided to support the presenters and the K2 Leisure Centre, Crawley granted permission and support to use the facilities to complete the challenge.
Now to do the challenge and make radio broadcasting reasonably interesting, the production team of Neil and Ben approached many clubs and the centre management to gain access to and interview many of the clubs, but along the way, we met so many interesting people some of who were champions in their own right!
From the bottom of our hearts thank you all!
Here is a selection of pics and audio of some of the more memorable moments and a very edited montage of bits a pieces recorded during the day. So sorry if you’re not on the final cut as there was just so so much from 9 hours of the 12 hours there on air.
Thank you to our colleagues:
Miss G, Henry Mack, Remy Sylvester, Mike Williams at K2 and Engineers Jude Reynolds and Peter Symonds at our main studios. Thanks also to Outdoor Sound Company, Freedom Leisure K2, Photographer James and helper Alice.
Special thanks to our Artist who performed live at K2 during our break Megana Heart.
Inspired by true events from the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, Tennessee, MEMPHIS follows the fame and forbidden love of a radio DJ who wants to change the world and a club singer who is ready for her big break.
